Band Members

Hans Stucki:  A founding member of The Angry and graduate of Ohio State University and the University of Notre Dame School of Law, Hans served in the United Sates Marines. He also serves as a volunteer in the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation and the Volunteer Lawyer’s Program of Lake County, Illinois.  An attorney in Chicago , Hans still performs with a new project, OLD'SCOOL and as a solo act in Chicago coffee houses.

Gary "Bean" Tinsler:  A founding member of The Angry, Gary was the lead guitar player until his departure in late 1962.  In 2006, Gary passed on while residing in Arizona.

Ken Stephen:  A founding member of The Angry and graduate of Kent State University.  After leaving The Angry, Ken played for a time with the Rebels, also of northeast Ohio.  Ken attended Kent State University with fellow students Joe Walsh of the James Gang and the Eagles, and Mark Mothersbaugh and Gerald Casale of Devo.  Ken has taken early retirement from his Advertising and Internet Marketing Consulting position with a large Ohio newspaper, The Repository, but still jams with local musicians including former Angry band mate, Tom Potts.

Jim Grant:  (1945 - 2008)  A founding member of The Angry, Jim settled in California.  After leaving The Angry and serving in the U.S. Navy, Jim spent several years on the road with a few country western bands such as Jimmy Gene Smith (Jailer, Bring Me Water) and appears on several 45 recordings by Ray Beach and the Driftwoods (Walking Blues), also of Ohio.  Drummer and founding member Jim Grant died of cancer on February 17, 2008.  Jim is missed by his family, band mates and friends.

Tom Potts:  A founding member of The Angry, Tom is a private Financial Advisor in northeast Ohio.  After leaving Angry, Tom went on to play with the Pinkerton Stripes, another hugely popular northeast Ohio band.  Tom also served his country in the Army National Guard.  Tom still jams with local musicians including former The Angry band mate, Ken Stephen.

Gene Smithberger:  Graduated from Ohio Northern University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Gene owns a civil-structural consulting engineering firm in Marion, Ohio. After the Angry, he played guitar, bass and keyboards for several northeast Ohio bands, such as, “The Uniques”, “Dom Jones Revue”, “Free Spirit”, “Ev’ry Generation”, “Special Delivery” and many others until 1990.

Mike O'Brien:  After The Angry's demise, Mike managed the Rubber City Rebels of Akron, Ohio.  The band and Mike eventually moved to California and recorded for Sire records.   Mike now lives in Southern California where he owns two "Rockin' Thai" theme restaurants and stills plays professionally.

Chris Noon:  After Chris left The Angry, he went on to play with many northeastern Ohio rock' n' roll bands, including the Shantells and most notably "The Catch", and has since played Celtic music for 15 years at Renaissance festivals and Irish pubs, playing the Irish bouzouki.  Chris graduated from Ohio State University and is a training specialist with ARC Industries in Columbus, Ohio, where he currently works with mentally retarded and developmentally disabled adults.

Larry Zagray:  After The Angry broke up Larry stayed in NY until 68-69 as co-owner of Charlie Bates' Club and Basin Street East. In 1969, he moved to the LA area and got involved in talk radio for about 10 years, then to Miami where he did the same. He has managed other groups along the way and is still involved in music promotion and management.
